TRAVEL INFROMATION

We expect you to be to the Summer School venue (Orthodox Academy of Crete) on Tuesday 4th June until 17:00 (see the preliminary program).

The Orthodox Academy of Crete (OAC) resides in Kolymbari, a seaside village in the west of the town of Chania. It is 39 km from the Chania Airport “Ioannis Daskalogiannis” and 24 km from the city of Chania.

The easiest way to reach OAC is to fly to Chania Airport “Ioannis Daskalogiannis” and then travel by bus to Kolymbari. Because the Chania airport is in the suburbs, you should firstly travel until the central bus station of Chania (about 20 minutes / 2,50 euros) and then, from there, by another bus to Kolymbari (about 30 minutes / 3.60 euros). In summer season, buses depart from the central bus station of Chania to Kolymbari every 15 minutes.

Information about the bus schedules is provided in the following link and it is updated near summer season:

You may also use a taxi from the Chania Airport to Kolymbari, which costs approximately 40-50 euros and it is about 30 – 40 minutes.

NOTE: The Summer School venue can also be accessed from the Heraklion Airport “N. Kazantzakis”. If you prefer to travel from Heraklion, you should take an urban bus (numbers: 6/ 7/ 8/ 10/ 12/ 14/ 15/ 19/ 31) from the Heraklion Airport to the central bus station of Heraklion (about 20 minutes /1.20 euros). From the central bus station of Heraklion, you should take a bus to the central bus station of Chania (about 2,5 hours / 15,10 euros) and then another bus to Kolymbari (about 30 minutes / 3.60 euros).

Information about the bus schedules from Heraklion to Chania as well as from Chania to Kolympari is provided in the aforementioned link.

More detailed information about the local buses schedules will be provided around May when the schedules are updated due to summer season.
